Time to revisit your new media strategy

So, you know how a lot of times we hear how people miss out on opportunities to gain some awesome benefit and you think, "but how could that be?". Well, I was at one of such places recently and trust me, all those who the event was targeted at and who weren't there, missed out.

The event was the FBS Day Out organized for female entrepreneurs at the Event Centre of the Jabi Lake Mall in Abuja on May 27, 2018 by the Female Business Sessions and beside being a platform for exhibiting products and services, it featured a few training clinics also.

Now, you may say but there are several of these kinds of events all over the place these days. Sure. That is true. But hey, extra visibility and extra knowledge can only be good for your business.

2018 is the year. Your website is your digital ground zero and the event had a Google Digital Specialist, Mrs. Tolulope Babajide come to give a talk about Search Engine Optimization (SEO). She also shared her knowledge about Canva, the online graphic design tool. See?

Now, there are millions of websites today that do not scratch the limit of their potential simply because the owners did not think beyond the need to have an online presence. That process of articulating the whole gamut of what it takes to keep the website visible and a relevant part of their business marketing and corporate goals is a discussion which must be had before or at least at some point, otherwise, the tendency to begin to see your website (or even your entire online marketing and brand building activity) as a tedious waste of time and resources will manifest.

The truth is that role of SEO cannot be under-estimated as over 90% of all visits to websites are from organic searches. The typical human in 2018 begins his attempt to answer any question by accessing search engines. When you go further to consider the number of people who hit the internet every second to search for products and services who may likely never get to see you among their search results, you begin to comprehend the volume of potential customers you lose on every given day.

Media Range took up a paid stand at the event and it was fun interacting with other vendors and participants. We couldn't help but notice that there were a few that either did not have an online presence or were on social media only or had a website but needed to optimize it and make it an efficient part of their business strategy. Of course we told them what we also knew about SEO, intimated them about our New Media Service, we shared a few tips, handed out a few pointers and made a lot of friends.

While we were at it, we shared a couple of templates that business owners can find handy when trying to brief their marketing communication agencies or graphic designers to ensure the briefs are properly interpreted. You can download those too here if you need them,

1. Integrated Marketing Communication brief template

2. Creative brief template
